SLIPPING
Combatives
“Slipping” is the act of moving from side to side to avoid a punch (generally a
straight or uppercut). Usually you can slip by simply making a small head or
body defense.
STARTING POSITION: Left-leg-forward fighting stance.
1. As the attacker’s punch develops, move your head sideways and in, toward
the dead side of the punch (i.e., if a left punch is thrown, move to the right and
inward; if a right punch is thrown, move to the left and inward). The motion
should be large enough to evade the punch, but still as small as possible (don’t
exaggerate the motion).
