SIDE MOUNT DISENGAGE (KNEE TO


               BELLY) Groundfighting


               The defender should know how to safely disengage from any position, including
               side mount. The following technique can be used either to remain in position and
               continue striking, or to attack the attacker briefly and then disengage.


               STARTING POSITION: Assume a Side Mount (page 332).
























               1. Slide your bottom knee (the one closest to his hip) up onto his stomach,
               almost as though moving into a full mount.
