HIP THROW

               Throws

The hip roll is a variant of the one-arm shoulder throw. Instead of trapping the

attacker’s arm/shoulder, you grab him around the waist or neck.

STARTING POSITION: Attacker has his right arm extended towards you,
perhaps after making a wide hook that you have blocked.

               1. Grab the inside of the attacker’s wrist with your left hand while stepping in.
With your right arm, reach around the attacker’s left hip. Ideally you’d grab at
the belt or pants, but if nothing is available, grab skin or just wrap your hand/arm
tightly around him. You should also now have your back to the attacker with
your hips square with his hips and your own feet relatively close together. Drop
your hips below his and punch them back, “lifting” him up onto your hips.
