DEFENSE AGAINST THREAT WITH A
HANDGUN: “CUPPING” TECHNIQUE
(TWO HANDS)
Handgun Defenses
This technique can be used against threats from the front at any height, or to the
side of the head. In threats from the front, it is used when the line of fire is
placed offline, or when the defender does not want to redirect the weapon
toward third parties. It is also used when the defender moves the line of fire and
finds himself on the attacker’s live side. In gun to the side of the head, it is used
when the defender redirects the line of fire and finds himself on the attacker’s
live side.
STARTING POSITION: Neutral stance. The right-handed gunman points the
weapon left of center on your body.
1. Using your right hand, redirect the weapon off to your left side. All the details
regarding movement in Gun from the Front (page 382) apply.
