                                                           Introduction

The origins of management are rooted in history. Great leaders were often great warriors.
They led their armies into battle with their chosen leaders who were selected because of their
loyalty, leadership, analytical and fighting skills.
In today’s business world the spirit of the warrior is once again reborn. Decision makers
in both the private and public sectors must take their organizations onto the battlefield of
competition. History has shown us that the victors were those with the best equipped and
trained armies and whose leaders possessed the leadership, discipline, spiritual, and technical
skills not only to survive the battle, but to win the war.
This book is not designed to tell you how to manage, but to help you reflect on your own
style of management. If you are in management, you are in a position of power. This power
can be abused or used to enhance the growth of those around you. History has documented
the stories of leaders who had power only to have it taken away by those above them, around
them or below them. Great warriors have always known that they alone cannot win the battle,
                    much less the war.
