Language Program
(CLB 5 and 6) Closures
The scope of our Language Instruction for Newcomers to
Canada (LINC) services has changed for the foreseeable
future. We will no longer be offering English classes at
the CLB 5 and 6 levels.
This development was on the heels of funding reduction
from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada
(IRCC) for language programs on the grounds that
since fewer newcomers are expected in 2025-2027,
a commensurate reduction in funding was therefore
necessary.
The LINC program is a vital program that helps
newcomers with English; reading, speaking and writing
skills for smoother integration into Canada.
This program has made a difference in the lives of many
newcomers over the years and we will continue to take
steps to help newcomers access the services they need.
