ST Mary’s Towers Retreat Centre is on 500ha of Australian bushland only 80km from Sydney. The property includes the rst Biobank site in
NSW aimed at ensuring the regeneration of na- tive Cumberland forest, and extensive gardens.
A spokesperson for the centre said the beauti- ful setting was the perfect environment for a prayerful and relaxing retreat to refresh the spirit.
It is enhanced by the Spirituality of the Heart as lived by the resident Missionaries of the Sacred Heart community, daily Eucharist, and the nurturing of a profound silence for prayer.
The retreat team not only encourages respect for the treasure of this silence, but is dedicated to integrating their love of prayer in a stance of living that is eco-friendly and respectful of the environment.
Consequently, St Mary’s Towers provides a space for people to listen deeply to God in their personal lives and in creation so as to better experience the love of the heart of Jesus.
A variety of retreats offers various pathways to enter the silence – re ection days and prayer weekends for those new to retreats; six, eight and 30-day retreats; the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola; and the opportunity to pray with writings of the mystics.
Extended personal retreats can also be ar- ranged in consultation with the director.
St Mary’s Towers Retreat Centre has a long tradition of celebrating Easter with an eight- day retreat for Holy Week.
In 2018, this will be extended to a 40-day retreat “Easter – Living Resurrection Life” from March 23 to May 3.
The usual liturgical celebrations will be followed by three eight-day retreat segments: Mark’s Gospel with Fr Michael Fallon, Walk- ing with Jesus – Resurrection Life with Mi-
chelle Vass, and concluding with an eight-day directed retreat.
The aim of this extended retreat is to of- fer the opportunity to savour the beautiful liturgical season of Easter in a contemplative environment.
Retreatants can participate in the full 40-day experience, attend individual retreats, or make a 30-day retreat after Easter Sunday.
All retreats are held in an atmosphere of si- lence to nourish and support prayer and healing.
Ongoing accompaniment beyond the retreat experience can also be arranged with members of the retreat team.

An Australian pilgrim says her decision to travel to Krakow for World Youth Day was the best decision she’s ever made. But not everything went to plan. Looking back, Kelly says taking out travel insurance before she left was definitely her second-best decision. Without it, her dream trip would have turned into a nightmare.
KELLY had never been overseas be- fore but after years of planning and saving, she nally had her ticket. Poland!
Waving goodbye to friends and family at the airport was an emotional moment but what lay ahead in Krakow kept her spirits high.
In Singapore, however, while changing planes, Kelly’s luck took a turn for the worse. Her con- necting ight was delayed, forcing her to nd a hotel and stay overnight.
Then, almost two days later when she nally arrived in Krakow, her luggage was nowhere to be seen. She’d lost all her belongings, including her laptop.
