As stated in my enclosed resume, I have an unmatched educational and
5 career background that is an excellent fit for this position. I have been
employed in the Park and Recreation field for twenty-one years, and my
experience with the City of Sacramento includes eight years with the Parks
and Recreation Department. I have had the opportunity to rise from within
the ranks, which has given me the opportunity to learn the many diverse
5 aspects of Parks and Recreation operations and the ability to work well with
staff from all divisions and levels of the Department. The City of
5 Sacramento, Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment Department is high
5 profile in the community, and interacts with numerous other City
departments, state agencies, community groups and stakeholders.

My current role as Interim Director requires constant interface on all matters
related to operations and management of recreation, youth and park
services and associated programs. My involvement in these programs has
provided a unique opportunity to diversify my knowledge of Park and
Recreation operations, programs and activities.

Shannon is the current Interim; recommend that she moves forward. Shannon Brown
Shannon has had significant Parks&Rec experience, most recently with the City of Sacramento and
is currently serving as the Interim Director. She has been working through transition with a several
of her management team reaching retirement. She is very familiar with the City's systems and
the department's history. Shannon is currently working on several youth based initiatives, including
a recent youth job fair. Shannon helped develop the department's current strategic plan,
has worked through organizational changes, and has implemented strong tracking and goal
alignment activities with her staff to ensure the whole department is aligned with the department's
goals and objectives.
Shannon works with the City's elected officials and has a good relationship with the decision
makers. She attends every Council meeting and gives presentations often. Shannon believes
in strong customer service and is very engaged in feedback efforts.
