John is a great candidate who brings modern thinking and approaches to government. He is
currently the City of Stockton Director of Community Services and came in during the end of the
City's bankruptcy. With very limited resources, he brought micro-libraries to the community centers
to bridge the closure of some libraries and it has become a well utilized service resulting in 3 micro
libraries in the community. He has had to work through the divestiture of the golf course business;
has worked on ballot measures. Since the exit of the bankruptcy has been in a growth mode
hiring 26 new employees, expanding hours, and creating new capital plans. John's department is
part of the Promise Zone Strategies working toward youth sucess; described being part of the
continuum of yourth development, implementing metrics around reading literacy and physical literacy
markers. Has built a strong relationship with public works that did not exist before, allowing for
better capital management and facilities maintenance. He should move foreard to the next phase.
