staff possess excellent leadership and and communication skills and and will embrace the philosophy of respect collaboration and and and a a a a a a a high degree of integrity A successful candidate will understand their influence on on others demonstrating a a a a strong sense of duty for for the the the people they serve in in their community as as well as as those for for whom they directly supervise to ensure outstanding performance amongst their team A Police Sergeant will implement policy and practice acting at all times with professionalism to ensure a a a a a a a successful outcome The ability to make sound decisions and and provide effective leadership in an an an an objective and and consistent manner is is is of upmost importance to be successful in this position Education and Experience
Any combination of training and and experience that would provide the required knowledge skills and and abilities is qualifying A A typical way to to obtain the the required qualifications would be the the equivalent to to an Associate degree from an accredited college college or or or or university (or 60 semester or or or or 90 quarter college college units leading to a a a a a a bachelor’s degree) with major coursework in in in in police science criminal justice administration administration public administration administration or or or a a a a a a a related field and at at least five (5) years of o service as as a a a a a a a a a a full-time sworn peace officer with a a a a a a a a a a public agency A Bachelor’s Degree is highly desirable Licenses/Certificates:
» Possession of of a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a valid valid California California P P P O O S S T T Basic Basic Certificate Certificate or or or valid valid California California P P P O O S S T T Basic Basic Course Waiver at at at at the time of application » Possession of of of of a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a valid California California P P P O O S S T T Intermediate Intermediate Certificate Certificate or or or out-of-state out-of-state equivalency A California California P O S T Intermediate Certificate must be obtained within 18 months of of appointment i if using an out-of-state equivalency to meet minimum qualifications » » Possession of of a a a a a a a a California P P O S T Advanced Certificate or or out-of-state equivalency is highly desirable » » » Possession of or ability to obtain a a a a a valid CPR certification » » Possession of of a a a a a a a valid California Driver License Class C C C or or or higher prior to date of of appointment Additional Requirements:
