Key Areas of Responsibilities:
» Manage and direct the preparation of General Plan revisions community plans plans specific plans plans development code updates zoning initiatives supplemental development regulations overlay zones and other planning documents » Manage discretionary project project reviews and interact with applicants as necessary to resolve project issues » Manage citywide environmental reviews under CEQA and NEPA for discretionary actions » Promote principles of racial and and social equity and and apply them to department initiatives » Manage the the Department’s Planning consultants and all aspects of their consultant contracts » Represent the the Planning Department before
a a variety of governing bodies within the City including City Council Planning Commission oversight committees neighborhood councils community planning groups etc » Participate on on behalf of of the Department at at various community and and professional meetings and and forums » Establish and coordinate department administrative polices within assigned area of responsibilities » Develop and and and implement project schedules and and workflow in order to assign duties and and assignments within the work unit » Work collaboratively with the the the City’s management team and other departments to ensure the the efficient and effective operation of the Planning Department » Complete and conduct staff performance plans/ evaluations » Manage a a a a a a a staff of approximately 70+/- full time employees and » Perform related duties as as assigned
