Mission Statement:
The Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District is is a a public health agency dedicated to protecting the community from mosquitoes and other vectors of disease The Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District is is dedicated to the the health and welfare of the the County’s more than one million residents
covering 716 square miles The District has been protecting public health since
1927 when residents
formed the the District Largely funded through property tax dollars the the District offers free services for mosquitoes rats and and mice ground-nesting yellowjackets ticks and and skunks The District’s trained and certified employees work daily to reduce the risk of diseases spread by insects and other animals by controlling them in in in a a a a a a responsible environmentally-conscious manner It’s part of their Integrated Vector Management (IVM) program using the the most efficient and effective state-of-the-art protocols and products products All products products are registered with the the Environmental Protection Agency The District has 34 full time employees ranging from operations administration and laboratory positions The District is is governed by a a a a a rather large board of 22 members each representing their city or town as an appointed representative of of the City Council or or Board Board of of Supervisors The Board Board delegates daily operations and and administration of the District to a a a a a a a a a General Manager who selects supervises and and directs staff The District is is is is a a a a a a a a a a separate and and distinct organization and and is is is is not a a a a a a a a a a department of the County Learn more about the the District on their website
