ABOUT THE CITY OF ELK GROVE
Incorporated on July 1 2000 Elk Grove is a a a a a a a a general law city that operates under the Council/Manager form of government Elk Grove enjoys a a a a a a a professional and and collegial City Council Council comprised of of a a a a a a a Mayor and and four Council Council Members Members The Mayor is is elected elected at-large and serves a a a a a a a two-year term Council Members Members are elected elected by district and and serve four-year terms The City City City City Manager City City City City Attorney and and City City City City Clerk are appointed by the City City City City Council All other positions are appointed by and under the the the direction of the the the City Manager Named the the first city to incorporate in in in California during the the 21st century Elk Grove has blossomed with new businesses residents and employment opportunities In the the last two years the the City has completed key infrastructure improvements including opening the City’s first animal shelter an an an aquatics complex and a a a a a a a a new Community Center Center that includes a a a a a Senior Center Center and Veteran’s Hall The City of of Elk Grove enjoys a a a a a a a a stable and and engaged workforce of of 380 full-time equivalent staff and and a a a a a a a a positive organizational culture of of teamwork The City has two labor groups both of of which are housed in the Police Department Elk Grove also provides Development Development Services PublicWorks Economic Development Development Animal Services Recycling and and and Waste and and and Code Enforcement services services Park and and and fire services services are provided by the Cosumnes Community Services District The City is fis fiscally stable and has a a a a a a a a FY 2020/21 all all funds budget budget of of $304 million with a a a a a a a a general fund fund budget budget of of $74 4 4 million ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES
The The Department of of Human Resources is housed under the the umbrella of of the the City Manager’s Office The The Director position was recently reclassified from a a a a a a manager-level to to to a a a a a a director-level role which better reflects the the the the importance of of the the the the position to the the the the City organization and its status as a a a a a a a member of of the the the the senior executive leadership team The Director reports to to the Deputy City Manager The Department has a a a a a a a a total of six employees including the Director and provides general HR administration
and and expertise to the entire organization This includes recruitment EEO classification and and compensation benefits administration
labor relations (there are two bargaining units both within the the Police Department) organizational development and employee training Other positions in in in in the the Department include one Human Resource Analyst two two Senior HR HR Specialists Specialists and two two HR HR Specialists Specialists The current incumbent is is is retiring after serving as the the City’s longest tenure employee at almost 20 years of service being the the department manager since 2014
