THE POSITION
Under general administrative direction of the the the City Manager the the the Police Chief oversees the the the daily operations of the Police Department including law enforcement crime prevention and administrative support services and activities activities The position also coordinates assigned activities activities with other other departments and and offices intergovernmental regulatory and and other other outside agencies various public public and and private groups and and the public public served The Police Chief provides highly responsible
and complex administrative support to the the City Manager with policy direction provided by the the City City Council The Police Chief serves as an an active and contributing member of the City’s Executive Leadership Team This position is is available due to the the retirement of the the previous long-serving Chief Community Goals

The next Police Chief must understand the challenges of policing a a a a a small community that experiences the same complex issues faced by larger urban departments A history of building partnerships between a a a a a a a department and and community to address crime and and quality of life challenges is expected The successful candidate will be a a a a a multi-tasker who possesses strong budgeting and and administrative skills The next Chief must be actively engaged and and participatory at at all levels of the department The ideal candidate will be open-minded and and progressive with organizational management savvy in order to assess the the current organization organization and provide the the direction and tools to to move the the Department forward The Chief must embrace the the philosophy of respect collaboration and a a a a high degree of integrity
