■ THE POSITION
The City Manager is seeking a a a Director of PARCS to to serve as a a a a key member of the City’s executive management team recognizing this position as one of many departments that work together to to support the the Mayor and Council’s vision for the City of Fresno The Director must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and and the ability to prepare clear concise and and comprehensive reports records and other written materials for a a a a a variety of audiences The Director of PARCS exercises considerable judgment and and discretion in in the the administration and and direction of the the department and its operations The Director is responsible for the development and and implementation of policies and and procedures relating to the operation maintenance and development of various parks after school recreation and community services This is is an an unclassified position in in which the the the incumbent serves at the the the will of the the the City Manager It is essential that the new Director has previous experience working with unions In addition the the Director acts as technical advisor to to the the City City Manager and and City City Council and and attends meetings of the City Council boards commissions and committees relevant to parks after school recreation and community services The Director is responsible for the preparation and administration of the Department’s annual operating and and capital budgets and and works with the City Manager regarding current and and anticipated City and and departmental needs needs prioritization of of those needs needs and the feasibility of of alternative approaches to to meeting them The Director is expected to coordinate activities with other departments within the City of Fresno as as well as as division sections and outside agencies
