John was a con jailed in Tucson for stealing a goose and a long-necked swan. He
was given striped clothes to don, or in other words, to put on.
Although his hopes for parole were wan, still he dreamt of being far gone to a land
far yon to start a new life with his waiting wife Yvonne.
