Story 216

               John

John was a con, jailed in Tucson, for

               stealing a goose and a long-necked

swan. He was given striped clothes to

don, or in other words to put on.

Although his hopes for parole were wan, still he dreamt of being far

gone, to a land far yon, to start a new life with his waiting wife,

               Yvonne.

              Story 217

                                               Pig Slop and Soda Pop

The thief stole a bottle of soda pop, from Mr. Dunlops barber shop.

Mr. Dunlop, having but one leg, had to hop. But he pursued swinging his

               leather strop.

               He chased the thief plop into a cop, who gave his neck a karate chop;

his kisser, a pop; and his head, a bop. For minutes he spun around like

a top. When finally he stopped, he dropped to the ground and flopped.

In jail he was fed nothing but pig

slop, and as a reminder - that very

               same brand of, soda pop!

               Change: apostrophe removed in Dunlop’s.
