                                                                                             The Utmost Party
                       Once on Maine's northernmost seacoast, we were in•vi•ted by a
                       most gra•cious host to a party that was truly the ut•ter•most.
                       Modest George Yost would not in the least boast, but his yard
                       would, with a lantern atop each post.  We were served cav•i•ar on
                       toast and the tastiest roast.  Every guest proposed a toast, which
                       was laughed down with a witty riposte.
                       The next day this foremost party was ballyhooed in The New York
                       Times  and The Washington Post.

                                               A Slogan On Which To Dote
               Can•di•date Goldie Oats mused, "I need a slogan that will that people will
               note . . . one on which they will dote.  It must be something they can learn
               by rote and readily quote."
               Sat•is•fied, she beamed and began to gloat.  These two she would emote:
                                     A VOTE FOR OATS WILL MAKE YOUR TAXES
                                     EASY TO TOTE !

                                     A DARK HORSE  NEEDS HER VOTES AS WE THE
                                     PEOPLE NEED OUR GOLDIE OATS !
