Story 358

                                                     Misunderstood?

"Sir, could you put some wood, into my car's hood ?" asked Mrs. Wood.

"Certainly lady, handling wood, is my livelihood." he said.

               "Well . . . then . . . why don't you?" barked Mrs.Wood, in apt womanhood.

He replied, "Do you mean could, or do you mean, would ?"

"EXCUSE ME!" she shouted, " I DO MEAN WOULD!"

"Oh!" he responded, "I would, as I said I could, but I don't think I really

should. You see, your engine, is already in your hood !”

               At this she screamed,

"At ONCE SILLY BOY, STOP THE FOOLHARDIHOOD!

I MEAN MY TRUNK, AND NOT MY HOOD !

DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD?"
