The Red Well-Read Reader

        Story 306

                                                        Ah Fudge!

“Ah fudge !” said the farmer

                                                   “My mule won’t budge.”

“Ah fudge !” said the photographer

                                                   “My photo’s got a smudge.”

“Ah fudge !” said the factory worker

                                                   “My job is a drudge.”

“Ah fudge ! Uhm fudge !” said the fat lady

“Give more of that sweet-tasting fudge.”

“Ah fudge !” said the captain

“The river has too much sludge.”

“Ah fudge !” said the criminal
                                                   “It’s that same judge,

and no doubt he has a grudge.”

        Story 307

                                                      A Mere Powder Puff

Felicio was tough and no one gave the boy any guff.

Only he would dare to dive off the 100-foot bluff. In golf

he never hit his ball into the rough, nor easy shots did he

fluff. And in football, he was extremely rough.

But when it came to his girl, who was hot stuff and much more than enough, he

was a mere powder puff, and not the least bit gruff.
