was whiter than mine and she was transfixed to the ground. Fortunately for all of us, the
mischief-maker had the presence of mind to run and get the Headmaster who summarily returned
the situation to normalcy. Whenever I meet this Year One teacher, there is an instant rapport of
those days should we be witness to any such scene, both of us would be amused now but on that
fateful day, it was no laughing matter at all, certainly not to me.
Fortunately, I soon grew out of these unreasonable fears: fears of the dark, sudden loud noises,
unexplained rattles and shakes, a shout of a blue and numerous other silly things. As I grew
older, wiser and more logical, I relegated these wild imaginations of the recesses of my mind.
Frankly, I must admit occasionally, I swing into unconscious panic attacks. I guess it‟s part of
my life.
I hope that as I mature into an adult I will learn to look at my own shadow and be confident
enough to play hopscotch with it

HOW I SPENT TIME WITH MY FAMILY
My name is Nur Alisa Balqish inti M.F. Mohd Rajif. I am13 years old. I live at Taman
Bunga Raya, Segamat. I study at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Gemereh, Segamat. My
father‟ name is M.F. Rajif bin Moksin and my mother‟s name is Junainah binti Mohd Johar and I
have one brother and one sister. Their names are Mohd Fakrul Danish and Nur Farisya Dayana.
During Hari Raya Haji break, my family planned to return to my mother‟s village on Sunday, 11
Sept 2016. Our purpose was to celebrate Hari Raya Haji.
A day before the celebration, we brought many things. My mother and I cooked delicious
food like beef rendang, chicken curry, sambal and ketupat. After cooking, my family and I had a
breakfast and then we put everything in the car . We left at 5.00 p.m. We were so excited that I
smiled along the journey.
On the way, we saw breath-taking view of paddy fields in the village of Sawaring and we
passed by Bandar Baru Bukit Gambir. We continued our journey to Serom which was not less
than 10 kilometres away. The journey took about one hour and 15 minutes.
After arriving at Serom, Ledang, we took out the things that we brought from home to
our old home there. After that, we had a stroll in the housing estate, Taman Serom Utama, to
inhale fresh air and to refresh our memories about the place.
On the next day, that was on Hari Raya Haji, normally, Muslims will perform ritual
sacrifice of poultry like cows, goats or even camels. The meat will be distributed to the needy.
My father and my brother went to mosque for Hari Raya prayer. When they returned home, we
ate the food that was served by my mother. After that my siblings and I sought forgiveness from
our parents. Then, we headed to our grandparents‟ house. We met our cousins. We chatted
happily.
In the afternoon, we went to tahlil at Tok Andak‟s house together with my grandmother,
Pak Uda, Pak Lang. Her house was located at Kampung Melepang, Sagil. After the feast, we
went back to our home.
On the last day we prepared to go back to Segamat. I was a bit sad but I hope I could
spend time with my family again some other time.
