THE ELIZABETH TAYLOR BALL TO END AIDS: VIRTUAL
   On the evening of World AIDS Day, December 1, 2020, The Elizabeth Taylor Ball to End AIDS: Virtual was held. The one-hour broadcast event was hosted by ETAF ambassador Kathy Ireland, and was generously supported by Presenting Sponsor Gilead Sciences Inc., and Diamond Sponsor BVLGARI.
The elegant evening featured messages from President Bill Clinton, Ambassador Deborah Birx, Sir Elton John and David Furnish, Sunny Hostin, Judith Light, Sam Smith, along with ETAF ambassadors Colin Farrell, Aileen Getty, and Whoopi Goldberg. The evening also featured moving performances by ETAF ambassador Vanessa Williams, and Josh Groban.
Earvin “Magic” and Cookie Johnson presented the inaugural Elizabeth Taylor Commitment to End AIDS Award to Gilead Sciences, Inc. for their global leadership in HIV treatment and prevention. Through their innovation and medical advances, countless lives are being saved, and many more people have avoided contracting HIV. The award was accepted by the Chairman and CEO of Gilead Sciences, Inc., Daniel O’Day. Prior to the event, a VIP Pre-Show was hosted by ETAF ambassador, Zac Posen, and ETAF officer, Quinn Tivey, and featured special guests Dr. Gabriel and Christine Chiu, BVLGARI President North America, Daniel Paltridge, Dr. Shanell McGoy from Gilead Sciences, Inc.,
and Judith Light. The Pre-Show was generously sponsored by Dr. Gabriel Chiu and Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery, Inc.
The Host Committee for the event included President Bill Clinton, Dr. Gabriel Chiu and Christine Chiu, Colin Farrell, Aileen Getty, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Kathy Ireland, Sir Elton John and David Furnish, Earvin “Magic” and Cookie Johnson, Elizabeth Segerstrom, and Barbra Streisand.
The event was also sponsored by American Airlines, ETAF’s official airline.
