GLOBALLY
  REACHING 90-90-90
Globally, significant gains have been made. At the end of 2019, 81% of people living with HIV knew their status and 67% of those were on antiretroviral treatment (an estimated 25.4 million people out of 38 million people living with HIV), which is more than triple the number of people that were being treated in 2010 (UNAIDS).
Now we set our sights on the current targets which are geared towards ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Millions
of people living with HIV are still in critical need of testing and access to treatment- 38 million people are living with it worldwide and there are 1.7 million new diagnoses each year, so our mission continues.
MALAWI REACHES 90-90-90
We are proud to report that our work with GAIA in Malawi has helped to achieve the ambitious 90-90-90 targets there in June 2020, making it one of only a handful of countries to do so. Now
in Malawi, 91% of people living with HIV know their status, 87% of these people are accessing treatment, and 94% of those on treatment are virally suppressed. Because of this progress, the Malawi Department of Health has set a new goal for 2025 of 95-95-95
for knowledge of status, treatment, and viral suppression. But while there has been much success there, vulnerable people are still being left behind in the fight against AIDS.
