Helping to keep Wingerworth spick and span
WWI anniversary commemorations
T HIS year marks 100 years since World War I ended and to mark this special occasion Wingerworth Parish Council
would like to invite members of the public to prepare poppies for a display in the Parish Hall.
The poppies can be made out of any material.
If you would like to participate in the ‘Parish Rooms Wall of Poppies’, please leave your Poppy entry in the Parish Rooms where a box or tub will be provided.
Last date for collection will be Saturday, 20th October.
The Council will also be hosting a World War I commemoration concert at All Saints Church on 22nd September.
Appearing will be the Chesterfield Male Voice Choir, 'Local Vocals' Ladies Choir and Ashover Silver Band.
Tickets are £10 and will include refreshments. They will be on sale late August and full sale details will be announced closer to the concert date.
National Arboretum Trip
W E are running a coach trip to the National Arboretum on Wednesday, 25th July. The pick-up point will be at The
Parish Rooms, New Road, Wingerworth, at 9:30am.
Tickets are priced £12.00 per person. There are places available
for just two fixed wheelchair users, i.e. their everyday wheelchairs will by clamped to the floor of the coach for the journey.
These two places will be on a 'first come, first served’ allocation'. Entrance to The National Arboretum is free, but certain exhibits
may have a small entrance charge. There is a land train available which also incurs a small charge.
There is a cafe/restaurant on site and plenty of picnic areas are available.

Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on Friday, 6th July, between 7-8pm at the Parish Rooms.
Join Wingerworth as it commemorates the Armistice Centenary
North East Derbyshire MP Lee Rowley joined local councillors and other volunteers on a major litter-pick in Wingerworth. He is pictured here with NE Derbyshire District Councillor David Hancock, Parish Councillors Kevin Broughton, Diana Ruff and Geoff Ruff. The event was led by members of the local Footpaths Group. Thank you to everyone who supported this event to improve the appearance of the village.
