John Lasater Carolina to pursue his dream of becoming John P. Lasater IV devel- a professional artist. Richard’s purpose in oped a love for art working painting is to provoke the viewer to interact as a designer and illustrator with his pieces. His paintings are his voice, for a division of Hallmark and stroke by stroke, he composes a whole
Cards. Fine art was a nat- ural transition after years of study and practice. John
now paints full time, both from his studio in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and on the road painting “en plein air”. He also teaches workshops. John’s honors include national plein air painting awards, artist-in-residen- cy’s, feature articles in both Southwest Art and Plein Air Magazine, and mentions in art magazines including Art of the West, South- west Art, International Artist, and Plein Air Magazine.Part of John’s mission is to pro- mote the arts in areas currently indifferent to it. He is accomplishing this through Heart of America Artists Association, an organiza- tion cofounded with artist and friend, Todd
that relates his vision. He is a member of several organizations such as the Oil Painters of America, Plein Air Painters of the South- east, and The American Impressionist Soci- ety. www.richardoversmith.com
Morgan Samuel Price
Morgan Samuel Price’s ca- reer began in 1968 with Hallmark Cards as an il- lustrator, but in 1972 she focused on becoming a ne artist. Her motivation to paint is energized by the
light as it ows across the scene. Morgan sees light as a tool to explore the visual pleasure of the movement of light over the objects. Painting is not about the objects rather it is a narrative of the scene and the mood cre- ated by the artist. Techinically this can be accomplished by the manipulation of the academic principles of painting. Observation is an acquired skill that constantly needs re nement through your lifetime as an art- ist. Her 40+year career as an artist has been sustained by an overwhelming desire to el- evate each moment with uplifting thought. Sharing her knowledge through teaching has brought endless rewards on all levels of her life. www.morgansamuelprice.com

Phil Sandusky
Phil Sandusky will deliver this year’s opening presen- tation entitled, “Narration and the Fleeting Moment.” Characteristics of plein air painting such as its imme- diacy and succinctness can
seem to be at odds with narration, which unfolds over time and often recounts past events. This presentation will examine the innate properties and strengths of plein air painting and how to narrate en plein air while holding true to them. Sandusky is best known for his plein air impressionist land- scape and cityscape paintings, although he is also a pro cient portrait and gure painter. A New Orleans resident since 1984, he is one of 276 artists – living and deceased – en- tered into the of cial bicentennial art histo- ry book for the state of Louisiana commis-

Larry Moore
I’ve been a Plein Air paint- er and instructor for a very long time. Before that I was an illustrator, a graphic de- signer and an art director, a career in visual communi- cation that has spanned 45
plus years. One thing I’ve found is that to be unique, to stand apart, requires a mastery of method combined with a process of thought and self-discovery in order to achieve au- thentic expression. A process I’ll be bringing to the PAS table. www.larrymoorestudios. com
