An Interview with...
THE PROUD HOMEOWNERS OF
29 TURKEY HILL ROAD NORTH
Q: What made you fall in love with this home?
A: The exterior and the character of the space on the inside! We wanted an easy flow and
lots of room to entertain since we have big families. I love how when we have people
over, they flow from one room into another and also straight to the backyard patio. We
use every inch of the downstairs when we entertain and everybody feels like they’re
included in the festivities since every room opens into the kitchen, the heart of the house.
Q: Describe the renovation process-
A: We were pregnant with our first and had to set up a make-shift kitchen in the family room. It
made for quite the memory. The bar in the family room came in quite handy since it was our
kitchen sink for the duration of the renovation.
Q: Why are you moving?
A: When we first moved here, I was still pregnant with our first child. Two kids were born into
this house and we’re going to miss it but since I’m pregnant with our third, we’re hoping to
find a house with a little more space for our growing family.
Q: Will you miss the neighbors/neighborhood?
A: We've made friends with a family on Peters Lane that has 2 boys and a girl, 11, 9 and 6
whom Brantley adores. They ride bikes daily on Peters and their parents are lovely. Across
the street is the sweetest older couple, the Signores, who would give us the shirt off their
back to help us any time we need anything and have basically adopted our kids as their
grandchildren. They have an annual neighborhood Christmas party we look forward to
every year. We love them! Yes, we will miss the neighborhood but we won’t be far away.
Q: Tell me about the grounds-
A: We will miss our front porch. It’s an extension of our inside space. Our house is set so far
back from the road that we use the front yard a lot and as a result, sit on our front porch.
The backyard is so private with all the plantings we put in including the hydrangeas and
peonies. The springtime is my favorite time of year to sit back there. There’s so much
color and fragrance and lots of evergreens.
Q: What makes your property special?
A: This isn't your typical Connecticut modern home; as a Farmhouse style, you'll find tons
of charm and character throughout which reminds me of home. We hope we've created a
warm, welcoming space for the next family to make as many wonderful memories in as we
have. Bringing all 3 babies home here, it will surely be missed.
Q: Did you ever consider putting in a pool?
A: We never needed a pool. We felt that Longshore and the beaches were enough for us. We
considered joining the Hunt Club at one point because it’s so close but then we never went through
with it. They also have a pool membership one can join.
