that He established Himself:
Men the world over observe holidays. There is not a nation anywhere, even among
the most primitive of people that do not have its unique days of special celebration.
In marked contrast, the eternal God instituted only Seven Holidays. And while it is
not inappropriate for men to establish days of special celebration, their significance
cannot be compared with the overall importance of the Seven Holidays instituted
by Almighty God. These Seven Holidays are discussed throughout the Bible, in
both the Old and New Testaments. However, only in one place, the twenty-third
chapter of Leviticus, are all Seven Holidays listed in chronological sequence.
These Seven Holidays are called “The Feasts of the Lord.” That expression indicates
that these specific holidays are Almighty God’s Holidays and they belong to Him
alone and in contrast to man’s holidays. They are, quite literally, “the Feasts of the
Lord” (Leviticus 23:4). And only on His terms and at His invitation can men
participate in them and also enter into their benefits. The Hebrew word translated for
“feasts” is meode, which means “Appointed Times.” These feasts are also called
“Holy Convocations;” that is, they are intended to be times of specific meetings
between Almighty God and Man for “holy purposes.”
Leviticus 23:1 thru 4; And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the
children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which
ye shall proclaim to be Holy Convocations, even these are my feasts. Six days
shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation;
ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
These are the feasts of the LORD, even Holy Convocations, which ye shall
proclaim in their seasons.
As previously mentioned the Lord Jesus Christ Himself fulfilled the first four
Spring Feasts during His first coming, and He will fulfill the last three Fall Feasts
with His second coming.
During the celebration of these feasts each year, Almighty God is obligated through
His word that specific meetings between Almighty God and Man for “Holy
Purposes” will without question take place on the exact dates of these feasts.
These Seven Holidays are called “The Feasts of the Lord.” That expression indicates
that these specific holidays are Almighty God’s Holidays they belong to Him alone
in contrast to man’s holidays. They are, quite literally, “the Feasts of the Lord”
