JERICHO VISION

As the Defence State, South Australia understands the
requirements and stands ready to support the RAAF’s
transition to the world’s first 5th generation air force.
With upgrades to the world class testing and training
ranges at Woomera and Cultana; access to world
class shipbuilding and vehicle construction facilities
and the Edinburgh Defence precinct, including
RAAF Base Edinburgh and the Defence Science and
Technology Group, South Australia is already ideally
positioned to support the future force.

We are also home to the new P8A Poseidon, Triton UAS,
armed UAS and soon to be upgraded JORN, along with
the developing Air Warfare Centre and a Live Virtual and
Constructive networked force. We are fully aware of the
requirement for highly trained personnel, an advanced
manufacturing industry base and a strong focus on
academic research and development to support the
Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Electronic
Warfare and Cyber requirements of a 5th generation force.
The winning edge will be achieved by the Defence
Force that truly unleashes the capability of the integrated
and networked force – where managing increasing
amounts of data will require new and innovative
assessment tools and strategies, and agile systems
engineering and integration will assure Australia the ability
to respond to the changing environment into the future.
Through a strong collaborative partnership between
Defence, industry and universities and research
organisations, combined with the newly established
Defence Innovation Partnership, South Australia will
enable the Plan Jericho vision.
