David Goggins:
From Struggle to Strength
From Struggle to Strength
The man, the myth, the legend, his name is David Goggins. He was 25 years old, fat and
poor. One day he decided to change his life. He was 300 pounds and wanted to join the
Navy Seal. But the recruiter said that he needed to lose 100 pounds in 3 months and there
are only 35 black persons that could complete the Navy Seal course. Guess what? He said
to himself what if he could be the 36th and lost 106 pounds in 3 months and completed the
Navy Seal. But it’s not enough for him. He ran 205 miles without bone cartilage with
broken feet. Completed ranger school, worked as a firefighter. He broke the record for
most pull ups in a day doing 7800 pullups.
He follows a strict routine waking up at 5 am running for 2 hours in the morning then eats
light breakfast and goes to the gym for 1 hour. He stretches and meditates for 2 hours. For
lunch he consumes chicken rice and broccoli, cycles for 1 hour. I like the strategy called
‘’eating the frog’’. Not actually eating a frog, it means doing the hardest things at the start
of the day.
And when I listen to his speeches I get so much motivation. Like when he said ‘’I know
there’s so many people that have the ability and just refuse to get off that couch, refuse to
study a few more hours, refuse to go further and that’s where I gained the advantage. It’s
so easy to be great nowadays because most people are weak’’. It gave me chills. I know I
am overweight and want to lose weight but I can’t. I’m not saying I won't, I will for sure
and he would be the one who impacted my life.
