the end of the world is upon us
the end of the world is centuries past
the end of the world is a myth
//
the limits of slogans and a desperate call for infinite manifestos
the limits of slogans and a desperate call for infinite multiplicities:
desperation and scarcity
ever present in the lives of the marginalized
a direct relation or an imposed assessment,
desperation and scarcity reinforce boundaries of possibility,
and perpetuate policing from broader systems
onto the intimate relation
between self and the self censored
emotion.
past politics echo
“KILL THE COP IN YOUR HEAD”
my longest partner,
suicide,
rears it’s ugly mocking face,
“OUR EXISTANCE IS RESISTANCE”
a paradox to dance on,
at best an uncomfortable
contrast to navigate.
my only means of negotiation:
affirmations,
and manifestos.
the words whites use
for my prayers,
my means of summoning strength,
the tools of my ancestors that
can never be put into museums.
affirmations for what feels like the end of the world:
i am the man i never needed, i am the woman of my dreams
made in my mother’s image, i am the space in between
each step a prayer, each breathe a battle won
my ancestors walk with me, this war has just begun
