“Hi, Rory. I’m Judy.” She felt the need to introduce herself first. Although they had

been going to the same class for months, they were still pretty much strangers. “What

do you have so far?”

Rory looked at her with an expression of confusion, like he didn't even know what she

was talking about. She showed him the book Romeo and Juliet. He responded,
“Hate…love…fight, and death.”

“This isn’t a bad start,” Judy thought to herself. She was a little surprised at how he

summarized the whole story like that. Maybe this group assignment wouldn't be as bad
as she had thought.

The first problem they ran into is when Rory had trouble following all the relations

among the many characters. Judy drew a quick diagram to show who is related to Romeo

and who is related to Juliet. After looking at the diagram quietly for a minute, Rory

seemed to just get it, no problem. He asked if he could keep the diagram. Then he

wrote down the next meetup day and time in his cell phone calendar.
