“ Singapore is not a melting pot but an

                                 optimal role-playing. ”

                           Mr. Boonyarith Sangsawong

Nowadays, as a global citizen, we cannot deny and ignore

cultural diversities of other people in our society. Cultural diversity
can lead to a situation that people from different cultures can live

together in society with harmony and respect; however, how we could
live in diverse society without losing who we are. In this article, the
discussing will be about what makes Singapore distinguishing from
other countries is not multiculturalism in the society but self-

professed global city where people perform an optimal role-playing.

Even though Singapore is a small island country located in
Southeast Asia, the land cannot limit cultural diversity of migrant

residents. Singapore has varieties of populations, for example,
according to the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, approximately
76.1% of Singaporean population is Chinese, 15% populations are Malay,
and 7.5% of the residents are Indian.

Living in cultural diversity country like Singapore
challenges everyone in the society that whether they will literally
keep their cultural identity or lose their identity in order to live

peacefully. Therefore, a large number of people might think that
Singapore is a melting pot of cultural diversity or multiculturalism
where both Singaporean indigenous and migrant residents lose their
cultural identity to live all together with harmony.
