Chiangmai? Todd is trying to make it now as a writer. Randy is retired and traveling the world. I am retired and have no desire to ever step into an airport again. Who would've thought plane travel would be more uncomfortable than buses?
We will talk politics, show business, Todd's recent marriage to a hill tribe lady and sports. Both Randy and Todd played baseball and I think Todd played basketball too. I never liked baseball but I do have one great memory. I must've been about 10 or 12 years old when my dad wrote a funny note to my teacher saying I had to go attend a funeral at Briggs Stadium. We went to see the Detroit Tigers play the Cleveland Indians and my first memory is how beautifully green the playing field was. Then, in maybe the 8th inning, my dad said, "Remember this, because you're watching history." There was huge round of applause and Satchel Paige, the legendary black pitcher, walked to the mound. He must've been fifty years old, but Bill Veeck, the Indian's owner and consummate showman, had brought him up to the majors. He pitched an inning and I could be one of the few people alive who ever saw Satchel Paige pitch.
Randy, Todd and me. Randy did a bunch of acting on TV shows so he's pretty well set financially but he is still dying to do something. Todd is trying to sell scripts to movie studios and before last Christmas had what seemed like a firm offer. He is struggling and this would've been huge for him but Hollywood is cruel and it fell through. We were playing golf the day the offer came in and he was on the phone all through the game trying to get it finalized. They put him off for almost two months and then the deal crashed. Sometimes show business sucks.
We will go to the Bagel House. It's run by a couple of really nice Thai ladies. I'm guessing they are lesbians but my gaydar is wildly faulty so they could have husbands and tons of kids.
I still have an hour before Kadjang is ready for school. Grey's Anatomy beckons. I will write more later and hopefully I'll come up with something really exciting. I've already told you about the two fights in my life, both pretty tame, so I don't think this book is going to be made into an action flick. I hope Tom Cruise isn't depending on me.
