found out he was the sergeant at arms in a notorious biker gang. Scary, because the sergeant at arms is usually the toughest guy in the gang of really tough guys. He threatened death to the golfers and the witnesses from the bar. But then the police showed him video of the incident. He didn't remember any of it. Apparently today's biker mind altering substances are a bit stronger than those drugs we had in the sixties. He apologized to them all, but the police took him up to immigration. Nobody knows what happened after that. He either got deported or he bought his way out of trouble. The golfers are pulling for the former.
I've been here 15 years and there is only one more dangerous story I can think of. One day we were playing golf at Green Valley and there was a slow fivesome in front of us. I was going to yell at them and my caddy blanched. "No boss, don't even think it!"
She told me one of the slow golfers was a well-known hit man and he had a gun in his bag. I decided slow golf was just fine.
As for me, I've never, ever had a problem in my 15 years in Thailand. No angry drunks, no fights, I've never seen a fight, no one has bothered me on the street, and I've never experienced road rage here. I feel safe here. I've walked around town at all hours of the night and never had a problem. Lucky for them because I'm from Detroit. I'm sure they'd be impressed.
