Stock status is known to be a key piece of information used as pat of the buying process. Sandvik
Coromant can deliver near-real time stock levels about all its standard products from each of its
global warehouses.

Delivering this information for presenting on your website is achieved by an API (Application
Protocol Interface). This is a connection between a computer system allowing the automated
sharing of data.

There are two technical solutions to provide you with price and availablity information:

1. where data is ‘pushed’ by us to a shared location for the full product assortment. Hourly
updates on changes of the stock with a daily complete update of what has changed during
last 24 hours. Your system retrieves the data from that location which populates your web
page stock status.
2. where data is ‘called up’ on a product by product basis using a ‘web service request’
On your website’s product page, stock levels are best represented using a simple visual indicator
(like a traffic light) instead of a number.
