What is Microbiology?

• Microbiology is the discipline of science which deals with the

study of organisms that require magnification to be observed

(>0.1mm)

• Microbiology extends to all phases of biology and is the

central point of the contemporary fields of biotechnology and

genetic engineering.

• Microbiology employs techniques such as (1) sterilization (2)

the use of culture media – that necessary for isolation and

growth of microorganism.
