                   Chapter 1: Introduction



                                 CAUTION:
                                 When a contractor installs this product, he is responsible for installing it
                                 in accordance with the latest edition of the NFPA 99 standard or CSA
                                 Z305.1-92 code dictated by the authority having jurisdiction. Any
                                 product modifications beyond those required by the installation
                                 instructions are the responsibility of the contractor. If these practices
                                 are not followed, the authority having jurisdiction may not allow the
                                 facility to open.

                                 To comply with the requirements of the Federal Communications Commission,
                                 the following text has been included in this manual in accordance with Title 47
                                 CFR Part 15: This equipment is designed to provide reasonable protection
                                 against harmful interference when it is operated in a commercial environment.
                                 This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if
                                 not installed and used in accordance with the operation and maintenance
                                 manual, may cause harmful interference with radio communications.
                                 Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful
                                 interference, in which case users will be required to correct the interference at
                                 their own expense.

                                 To ensure compliance with the Class A Federal Communications Commission
                                 (FCC) limits, shielded cables must be used with this unit where specified. This
                                 equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A,
                                 FCC, digital apparatus pursuant to part 15 of the rules, and with Canadian
                                 ICES-003, Issue 3.


                                 To comply with the requirements of the City of New York Department of
                                 Buildings; Materials and Equipment Acceptance Division (M.E.A.), no wiring
                                 shall enter through the knockouts in the top of the rough-in box. The wiring
                                 shall only enter the rough-in box through the knockouts in the sides or the
                                 bottom. When configuring the alarm, do not set the alarm return time to
                                 “never.” Set the alarm to return every 30 minutes.
