1. BEST PRACTICES: SOFT PLASTIC
1G. Appropriate Handling and Addition of Dry Ingredients - Carefully adding ingredients into a dry ingredients hopper is the last line of defense against foreign material.
BEST PRACTICES:
Stretch plastic should be removed completely around the packaging box. Operator needs to inspect each box for damage (Wood, Tears, Dirt, etc.)
Operator should use an approved tape splitter to open the ingredient box.
Operator needs to pull the bag liner over the edges of the box before dumping it in to the ingredient hopper to prevent foreign objects from entering into the hopper. Operator needs to do a visual inspection of the ingredients for foreign material.
Slide the ingredient’s packaging box against the raised edge of the ingredient hopper. This creates a pivot point while lifting the back of the box. While dumping ingredients into the hopper, continue monitoring the ingredients for foreign objects. Do not place or rest the packaging box on the grate.
