Beauty
LASSICAL PROPORTION
the face or an object is to the golden ratio, the more beautifully pleasing it becomes
From the people I’ve worked with and seen through the years, I nd that it is not just about the fairness
of the skin, articulate brows, voluptuous mouths, hourglass gures, proportionality, shapes and sizes that just matters, I’ve observed individuals, even the racial features. Yes, some are really awless with distinct at- tributes. But, if someone is lacking an extra quality that garners beauty plus points, who is to say that you are not as pleasing looking as well? As the timeless saying goes: “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”.
By the way, do people still use this saying? Hey millennials, do you hear me? LOL
Ive encountered people from most walk-of-life and see beauty in everyone. For me a person is like an art-form cra ed by an Italian master from plaster, as each indi- vidual is unique and special in their own way. I would like to think that, all of us are, ‘the works in progress’, in stages, and in time.
e ‘physical craze’ we follow , the fads and fashion we submit ourselves to, all equates to a very pleasing ap- pearance, plus our healthy stance, tness, intelligence, grace, attitude, outlook, con dence and a happy state of mind. - at is, and the ‘total-or lack-of ’ that makes a ‘whole’ - the interpretation of -My Beautiful!
But is there really an ideal standard of Beauty?
Experts in the elds of science and arts has always been interpreting Beauty thru Form and dimensions. But do we know the meaning and measure of why nature is esthetically pleasing? Why is nature beautiful? How do we see the human form? We have seen in nature’s symmetry that occurs naturally in all life forms, these are creations that surrounds us in every shape and sizes, from the seashell, spiderwebs, leaves, honeycomb... the premise is that the closer the face or an object to the golden ratio the the more beautifully pleasing it becomes.
rough the years, every time period had its own de - nition of what is ideal though we may not achieve per- fection. We resorted in complementing and accentuat- ing by whatever means necessary, even going to great lengths and more (another subject for discussions).
Are we aspiring to be like someone we idealize or idolize? What concerns us most? Who do we listen to? Who do we follow? Where do we go? What do we need? Is it possible?
e Classical proportion came up with measurements by interpreting the patterns or the Phi - 1.1618. e repeating pattern and harmony in every living thing is what pleases the eyes. To that which we exploit and promote as symmetrical and proportional relates to what we now call the ideal standard.
