White Wine German variety
Journey through Rhinehessen
The trend towards increased white wine consumption, which has existed since 2008, has continued over the past year. White wines now account for 43% of wines purchased in Germany.
Reason enough to take a closer look at Germany‘s largest wine-growing region, Rhine-Hesse and at the diversity there.
The vineyards between Alzey, Worms, Mainz and Bingen cover 26,000 hectares. The region is framed by the path of the river Rhine nearby.
The selection of wines ranges from the Silvaner to the elegant Riesling, as well as to numerous new types such as the Scheurebe, Bacchus, Kerner and Faberrebe wines.
Winemakers in Rhine-Hesse produce modern, un- complicated wines as well as absolutely high-end products.
On the next pages we will introduce you to some special winemakers and their wines.
