Advanced Decorating (6 -12 ) - Advanced Decorating is geared for kids from 6th to 12th
th

grade. We will learn to frost cakes, practice decorating skills and how to make some easy yet
creative and delicious desserts. We will build on the skills learned in Jr Decorating; however, Jr
Decorating is not a prerequisite for Advanced Decorating. This is a hands-on opportunity to have
fun while gaining experience and creative ideas in this area. No textbook needed. Instructor:

French Cooking En Famille - (8 -12 ) While most people are familiar with the high art of
French restaurant cooking, this course will focus on the largely unknown yet delectable world of
the ordinary French table which is typical in every French home, including mine when I was
growing up (and continue to do with my own family). I will teach you how to plan and prepare
family meals and share some of my favorite recipes which have been passed down from my
French parents and grandparents. You will be surprised how easy, yet delicious and healthy,
day-to-day French cooking can be. You'll also learn the cultural history behind each recipe and
why the French have so many courses! Bon Appétit!! No textbook needed. French students will

Beginning Digital Photography (ages 10 & up) This course provides students with an
introduction to basic photographic principles using their cameras. Students will implement
techniques of composition and lighting, combined with an understanding of the “photographic
triangle” (aperture, ISO, and shutter speed), to create striking images with correct exposure. In
the second semester, students will get their cameras off auto mode and learn how to shoot in
manual mode, with creative control over their images and exposures. Course Content includes,
camera settings, lighting, composition, using flash, troubleshooting, layout and design, ISO,
aperture, shutter speed, basic digital editing, and photographing wildlife, pets, sunrise, sunsets,
flowers, forests, fireworks, people and more. Required Materials include, camera- DSLR or
Point-And-Shoot (DSLR is preferred but a “high end” point-and-shoot camera may be used),
camera manual, notebook and pencil or laptop for notetaking, USB cable or other method of
transferring your digital images to a computer, course textbook Better Photo Basics, by Jim
Miotke, access to a laptop or home computer to download and edit digital images, and
OPTIONAL: a laptop to bring to this course for a few specific dates, to work on in-class image

Creative Photography (MS, HS, Adult) This course will help you discover the artist in you…you
will learn how to shoot creatively and boldly. You will learn to incorporate different elements such
as light, emotion, perspectives and special photography tricks (like using prisms, free lensing, the
ring of fire, multiple exposures and more!!!). In the second semester we will cover editing tools in
Lightroom, such as head swaps, extending canvases and adding elements to promote balance
and symmetry and more. So, weather you want to capture amazing shots for your blog, social
media, photo albums, your wall at home, or just for yourself this course will catapult your art to a
new level. Course Content: Lightly touch on Camera Settings, Exposure, ISO, Aperture and
Shutter Speed, Composition, Self-Expression, and Basic Lightroom. Required Materials:
Camera- iPhone, PAS (point-and-shoot), or DSLR (PLEASE note: quality of pictures and more
creative options will be with a DSLR), Camera manual, notebook and pencil or laptop for
notetaking, USB cable or other method of transferring your digital images to a computer, Course
textbook Creative Photography Lab, by Steve Sonheim, Access to a laptop or home computer to
download and edit digital images OPTIONAL: a laptop to bring to this course for a few specific
