BURGUNDY 45
Cacao Cécile, rocks out
Grand Cru is spicy, dense, dark and rich. It is 95%
whole bunch but you barely feel it as all of the
smoky floral things are buried in waves of fleshy
fruit. Excellent potential.
2015 Domaine Cécile Tremblay Échezeaux du
Dessus Grand Cru is super spicy and loaded with
rich black cherry fruit. In the mouth, it is compact
and linear, expanding out on the finish with the
classic peacock’s tail.
Our tasting of the ‘14s commenced with the 2014
Cécile Tremblay Chambolle-Musigny that is from
the old vines, is 100% whole bunch and will be in
magnums only. It is lively with crunchy cherry
and floral notes. It has a base of limestone and
earth. The 2014 Cécile Tremblay Vosne-Romanée
1er Cru 'Les Rouges du Dessus' has a heart of pure
and sweet blue fruits. There’s pungent minerality
and sherbet-like acidity. Very fresh and a wine
of excellent clarity. The 2014 Cécile Tremblay
Échezeaux du Dessus Grand Cru is fine, complex
and elegant. It has sweet cherries, chalk, cherry
stone and rose petal aromas. It really builds
through the palate and is silky of texture. There’s
some whole-bunch grip to the finish.
