SMidge Raymond visited the
Antarctic Peninsula in 2004, not
knowing that more than ten years
later she would publish a novel
based on her experience. My
Last Continent (Scribner, 2016)

who finds love in Antarctica,
then receives a distress call that
the ship her partner is on has
struck ice and is sinking. “While
I was in Antarctica, naturalists
