here is no question that Oregon is high-ranked for its hop
culture. The brewery scene has continued to steadily increase
since 2001—up to a whopping 311 breweries in the entire
Tstate in 2019, according to the Brewers Association.
While some have assumed Oregon has reached its crest in the craft,
rural regions such as Douglas County are proving that there are still
plenty more taps and tastes to be explored. Appropriately, Roseburg is
known as the “untapped” gem of Southern Oregon. Visitors will feel as
if they are discovering a hidden treasure in bounty and experiences, and
beer lovers will find plenty of options to quench their thirst. Roseburg
and the surrounding Umpqua Valley have continued to grow in brew-
eries, not only offering lengthy tap lists of high-quality craft beers,
but also down-to-earth, classic-pub atmospheres where strangers are
treated like friends and everyone wears a frothy smile.
Many of Roseburg’s breweries are conveniently located right off
Interstate 5 for an easy pit-stop or take-out (most of the breweries
have growlers, cans and bottle sales onsite). However, with the variety
of beers offered and with each brewery having its own unique style, a
weekend beer-trail trip is a must.
