EVENT
KORN FERRY
TOUR
A NEW TOURNAMENT COMES TO TOWN
Story by Bill Bowman
Photography provided by Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
as Vegas and professional golf have gone
hand-in-hand for decades. It’s been that
way since the early days of guys like Art
Besselink (the winner of the first Tournament
L of Champions back in 1953 at the Desert Inn),
Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Gene Littler, and a host of
others in years gone by.
Now, it’s time to add another chapter to that professional
golf tale as the Korn Ferry Tour, home to future PGA
Tour stars and also to those looking to get back onto the
big tour, will come to Las Vegas. The Paiute Las Vegas
Championship, scheduled the week of April 15-18, will
be held at the Las Vegas Paiute Resort’s Sun Mountain
Course. The tournament will be the fifth event during
the Korn Ferry’s 2021 scheduled 21 events.
The PGA Tour, the LPGA Tour, and the PGA Tour
Champions have all held events around a variety of
Vegas’ most impressive layouts. In fact, the LPGA played
one of its majors in Vegas, the LPGA Championship,
from 1961-1966. Mickey Wright won the inaugural event
at the Stardust Country Club, now Las Vegas National.
