SCHULTZ WINES
CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF GOING ROGUE
reg and Debbie Schultz fell in love with wine while living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Drawn to Greg’s
Gbirth state, the couple explored Oregon’s AVAs before founding Schultz Wines in 2010. In 2014, they
purchased a 60-acre former cattle ranch in the Applegate Valley. By collaborating with winemaker Linda
Donovan at custom crush facility Pallet Wine Company in Medford, they achieved their goal of making deli-
cious, natural wines at an approachable price—natural, low-intervention wines that have been garnering
accolades since their first vintage of Chardonnay in 2010. The Schultzes took viticulture and enology classes
through U.C. Davis and O.S.U. Extension, and farm sustainably, using only organic products and practices.
They named their property Glory Oaks Vineyard because, Greg says, “We love working outside in God’s
glorious creation, tending the vines. We named our first red wine, a 2010 Merlot, ‘BLESSED,’ because we
feel incredibly blessed.” Free-range chickens, a flock of babydoll sheep, and a small herd of South African Boer
goats help manage the vineyard floor and do battle against blackberries and star thistle.
In 2015, they remodeled the onsite 1940s farm house as a cozy tasting room, converting it in 2017 into a
net positive solar-powered building. They’re open 12:00-5:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays by appointment
and for private tastings other days. Their wines are also available at various local wine shops and online with
shipping available to 39 states.
