                                                                  Folks have repurposed sinks, bathtubs, and yes, even toilets, as yard art
                                                                  and planters—you’re guaranteed comments on that last one. Paint an
                                                                  old tire rim for a planter, or use tired shoes. I have hens and chickens in
                                                                  a pair of my dad’s old shoes. Repurposed boards with words or sayings
                                                                  are popular now, something you can purchase or create.

                                                                  If you prefer ready-made garden art, check out local nurseries or gar-
                                                                  den sections in big box stores or craft stores. If funky is your style,
                                                                  head to Goodwill, gift shops, antique stores, garage sales—or your
                                                                  own garage!

                                                                  Want a fun project for you and the kids or grandkids? Set up easels in
                                                                  the yard, don paint smocks and have at it. With our dry summers, you
                                                                  can display the resulting masterpieces outside. Once the rains come,
