people enjoying their time around fire pits on the beach and an idea
he’d seen came to mind. A local company gave him permission to dig
six wine barrels out of their stock and from that beginning, Huyke TERRA FIRMA
built and sold his first wine barrel fire pit.

Soon after founding Smokin’ Barrel Works in 2015, Huycke returned
to the Rogue Valley. “And here I am,” he says. Having previously
worked for a local winery, the combination of family and his long-
time connection to the various wine suppliers in the valley naturally
make his business the perfect fit, says Huycke. Smokin’ Barrel Works
has expanded as his ideas have grown, and today his showroom and
shops reflect the warmth and creativity he and his company bring to
           their work.
Book your Wine Country stay now!
“We’re proud of the fact that each piece is handmade,” says Huycke. 205 W. D St. Jacksonville | www.standishcottage.com
Huycke sources his materials locally from wineries and other sup-
pliers throughout the Rogue Valley and Applegate, and extending
into Northern California and the Willamette Valley, with the num-
ber one priority being reclaiming wood from wine barrels, utility
spools, barn wood, and fence boards. “We don’t use any new wood,”
says Huycke of the wide range of items he’s designed and built. The
nature of this reclaimed wood gives each piece a unique look and tex-
ture. Glass, too, is reclaimed from a variety of sources when possible.

As a family-founded-and-run business, Huycke, along with his wife
Stephanie and young son (“my number one salesman”) is looking to
build more than just product, but also to create connecting points Full Service
in the community. “I’d love to see one of our fire pits in every back
yard, for people to enjoy.” Water Well Contractor
