We strongly advise against dismissing your child as a “walker” to avoid the car pick-up line.
Having them meet you in a location without supervision is very dangerous. Emergencies may
prevent you from being at the meeting spot as planned, leaving your child to walk home
alone. Please do not sacrifice safety over convenience.
Changes in the Usual Method of Transportation
If a student uses transportation that is an exception to the usual way they travel home, the
student must bring a written, signed statement from the parent/guardian stating the change
to the teacher. Students who do not have written permission will be required to leave school in
the usual way when the school day is over.
If you pick your child up early and they normally ride a daycare van, please notify the daycare
center.
Students consistently picked up late may be sent to the after-school program, and a fee will
be applied. Persistent issues will be addressed at the school level, followed by any MCSD and
local authority reporting.
