Chess Club
Chess Club welcomes pupils of all ages and abilities, from beginners to boys in the school team, and from serious practice to social games. Our school teams ('A' and sometimes 'B' teams) take part in a local chess league, with games after school on Fridays, roughly every other week in Michaelmas and Lent terms.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an excellent opportunity to learn useful skills, get an internationally-recognised qualification, and have a fantastic time. Pupils in Year 9 upwards are able to take part, starting with the Bronze Award in Year 9, the Silver Award in Years 10 and 11, and completing the Gold Award during Sixth Form. At each level, participants must complete four sections: volunteering, skill, physical and expedition. Each section must be done for a minimum period of time and must be monitored and then assessed by someone with knowledge of that particular activity to achieve an Award. Each progressive level demands more time and commitment from participants. Those who complete their Gold Award are invited to St James' Palace to receive their certificate.
